Course Overview:
In this course, we will learn the many facets of QuickBooks Online as well as review the basics of financial accounting and reporting. Topics will include setting up a new company in QuickBooks Online, sales and cash receipts, purchases, investing, payroll, taxes, and budgeting. Case studies will build upon each other as the course progresses.

Students are eligible for a free 365 day copy of Intuit QuickBooks Online Plus from the
Intuit Education Program in order to follow along with the course content.
Students will:
- Identify the basic features of QuickBooks Online.
- Create new customers, vendors, products, and services in QuickBooks Online.
- Record a sales receipt, invoice, and cash payment.
- Record a purchase order, bill, and check or credit card payment.
- Record the acquisition and sale of assets.
- Conduct payroll functions.
- Create a budget.
- Adjust previous entries in QuickBooks Online.
- Create financial statements and reports.
This course prepares students to take the Intuit QuickBooks Certified User Online certification exam.
Course Outline:
Lesson 1: An Introduction to QuickBooks Online
In this first lesson, we will learn about QuickBooks Online, how it differs from other versions of QuickBooks, and basic navigation. We will also explore QuickBooks Online by looking at a sample company and how they use it. Lastly, we will practice setting up our own company and learn how to modify starting balances and adjust company settings.
Lesson 2: Operating Activities
In this lesson, we will learn operating activities, such as sales and cash receipts and purchases and cash payments. Topics will include sales receipts and invoices, transaction details, purchase orders, and payments of bills.
Lesson 3: Investing and Payroll
In this lesson, we will explore the accounting side of investing as well as how to conduct payroll in QuickBooks Online. This lesson also includes fixed assets, long-term investing and debt, and the operational side of paying employees.
Lesson 4: Budgeting and Financial Reporting
In this final lesson, we will look at how QuickBooks Online can help with budgeting, how to make adjustments to previously entered information, and the various reports you can create. We will also explore bank reconciliation, aging summaries, and balance sheets.
All necessary course materials are included.
