The Internet of Things will change our personal and professional lives forever. By 2020, there are expected to be over 50 billion devices communicating through the Internet. These devices will range from doorbells, thermostats, cars, and washing machines. This devices can make our lives easier and more efficient.  At the same time, some of these devices may put our safety and privacy at risk. Knowing about the how the Internet of Things works and what we can do to be safe is important.

Instructor Biography:

Tom has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.  He has spent 42 years working in information systems with Digital Equipment Corporation, Lockheed Martin and now Zeta Associates, Inc.  Tom’s experience includes computer systems hardware design, construction, customer service, software engineering, network engineering and support and most recently cyber security.

Tom is currently responsible for the cyber security hardening of advanced signals processing systems being developed and delivered to the U.S. Air Force used for communications training. He holds advanced U.S. Government required DoD 8570 cyber security certifications – Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Tom teaches Information System Auditor training to aspiring IT professionals.
